The Challenge
When NeuReality partnered with itMatch in August 2023, they were building a pioneering AI and hardware-driven product – combining machine learning, real-time systems, and low-level optimization. Their hiring needs, however, were far from typical. They were looking for extremely rare hybrid profiles: engineers with experience across Python/C++, Machine Learning, hardware, CUDA, ONNX, OpenCL, CV, RTOS, TensorFlow, PyTorch, LLMs, and algorithm optimization.
The requirements extended beyond technical stacks. NeuReality expected low-level system experience, deep academic backgrounds, and highly specific career trajectories. Traditional sourcing methods were ineffective. The market offered only a tiny pool of qualified candidates, many of whom did not label themselves in typical “AI” terms.
Our Solution
We approached NeuReality’s hiring challenge with a precision-crafted RPO model tailored to high-complexity, niche recruitment.
As a fully embedded talent partner, itMatch worked side-by-side with NeuReality’s founders and technical leadership to deeply understand both the product and the business. This allowed us to effectively communicate the role’s value proposition to highly sought-after candidates – from technical scope and real-world impact to cultural dynamics in a fast-scaling startup.
Key strategies included:
- Profile refinement: Rather than relying solely on skill keywords, we searched by employment trajectory, academic background, side projects, and publication history.
- Manual, targeted outreach: A deep, hands-on sourcing process involved contacting hundreds of potential candidates, performing detailed pre-screenings, and frequent follow-ups.
- Company-first storytelling: Clear articulation of NeuReality’s vision, tech stack, and startup culture gave candidates insight into long-term growth and product relevance.
- Market calibration: For roles like VLSI Verification Engineer, we expanded beyond local talent pools (e.g., Kraków), used whisper marketing, and leveraged referrals, niche forums, and even academic networks.
The Outcome
Though the search was painstaking, the approach paid off.
In less than a year, 3 highly specialized engineers were successfully hired – including profiles that would typically be impossible to locate through conventional methods.
Each hire aligned not only with the technical requirements but also with NeuReality’s startup mindset and cultural DNA.
