When Ocado Technology entered the Polish market, the goal was clear: build a top-tier engineering presence in Kraków and later in Wrocław. But this wasn’t just about recruitment- it was about building entire offices, processes, and teams from the ground up.
Launching in a new country with no local infrastructure required a recruitment partner that could think beyond filling roles.
Our Solution
Since 2012, itMatch has acted as Ocado’s Sole Supplier/Master Vendor, with recruiters embedded directly in the client’s teams. We took full ownership of:
- Sourcing and screening over 6,400 candidates,
- Hiring 570 engineers and specialists,
- Setting up local office operations,
- Driving employer branding initiatives,
- Supporting both Kraków and Wrocław office expansions.
Roles covered included Software Engineers, UX Designers, QA, Product Managers, Data Engineers, Team Leaders, and even Heads of Development.
The Outcome
Over 11+ years, we supported Ocado’s growth from market entry to a full-scale engineering hub – becoming a trusted, fully embedded recruitment partner. Ocado’s satisfaction with our results led them to forgo building an internal local recruitment team and instead entrust the entire hiring function to itMatch. We were also responsible for recruiter and manager training, employee satisfaction surveys, and refining recruitment processes etc. Thanks to strong candidate alignment and process excellence, attrition remained at an exceptionally low level.
