itMatch has served as a strategic talent partner for Akamai’s Krakow operations, facilitating the growth of diverse engineering teams. The partnership covers the end-to-end recruitment lifecycle. itMatch has successfully sourced and present over 70 highly qualified candidates across multiple disciplines, including Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), and Cloud Platform Engineering etc.
The Challenge
Akamai initiated a global expansion of its Cloud Technology Group to build the Inference Cloud – a platform designed for high-performance, compliant AI application hosting. The goal is to establish a “core team” of 50 specialists, split between the USA and Poland, to architect a system capable of running OpenAI-compatible endpoints at the edge.
The Strategy
itMatch was tasked with finding specialized talent capable of bridging the gap between traditional cloud infrastructure and advanced AI/ML operations.
The focus was on building three teams:
- Foundry (non-AI) – Platform Software Engineers
- Ignition (AI) – AI Engineers (ML Ops), Performance Engineers
- Site Reliability Engineering
The teams are being built from scratch, covering the full spectrum of positions from mid-level technical roles to managerial ones.
The Outcome
By leveraging itMatch’s deep screening processes, Akamai is successfully transforming its Krakow site into a powerhouse for AI innovation, moving beyond content delivery into the future of edge-based AI inference.
