OANDA is a leading global FX & CFD trading, currency data and analytics business with operations in Frankfurt, Gurgaon, London, New York, San Francisco, Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo and Toronto.
The company was established in 1996 by Dr Michael Stumm, a University of Toronto professor and Dr Richard Olsen of The Olsen Limited, sharing exchange rate information for free on the internet. In 2001 the business launched its own, in-house developed, FX trading platform enabling retail clients in North America to trade a variety of currency pairs.
In April 2018, OANDA was acquired by Private Equity firm, CVC Capital Partners – Asia Fund IV. Under CVC’s ownership, the strategic vision is to deliver significant value growth by establishing OANDA as one of the major players in the global FX/CFD market. The business is investing heavily to achieve this vision by expanding its product range, enhancing its technology leadership position and substantively increasing the size of the employee base.
OANDA’s plan is to expand its existing engineering, finance and marketing functions at its new European operating hub whilst also developing a number of new capability teams that will be based there. In January 2020, the company chose Krakow as a location with a strong local engineering talent pool and launched an office here.
